The metals of the future;

High entropy alloys, with equal or relatively large proportions of five or more elements have recently received considerable attention

These alloys are promising for many applications, but their use is still being studied.

Super Strong but flexible

A benefit of high entropy alloys is that their composition can be tuned for improved hardness, strength and toughness.

High entropy alloys are an example of a new class of materials that possess some unusual and potentially very useful properties due to high mixing entropies.

Resistant to radiation

The effects of radiation damage on the structure and properties of some multicomponent alloys is less severe than that observed for single component metals.

Stable at high or low temperatures

Some high entropy alloys have the ability to resist localized corrosion in acidic solutions at room temperature and cryogenic temperatures.
